WHAT SIZE HUTCH DO I NEED?

There is a very simple answer to this potentially Complicated question.... The bigger the better!
There is one very simple rule......To encourage natural behaviour whatever the animal, they need to be able to move freely in any direction. It is essential for rabbits that they are able to stand on there back legs and stretch up, they should also be able to stretch out in any direction in the hutch. There should be enough room for bunny to be able to make 3 or 4 hops from one end of the hutch to the other, at the very least. The larger the accommodation the happier your animals will be!

There is no specific guide to the size of your animal housing but a responsible owner will consider the needs of their animals. If you would like more specific information on this we have some knowledge specifically on rabbits and would be happy to make a recommendation based on the breed and number of rabbits you are looking to keep. We are always happy to advise but can only offer an opinion, you should always consider all possibilities before you decide.

There should also be some outside space available to your pets. Some owners like to have separated space from the housing ie: a hutch and separate run. A run should have a top if left unsupervised, to keep predators out however leaving any bunny in a run un supervised is always at the owners own risk.  It is important that if you choose to purchase an integrated house and run that the run provides enough sheltered area from the unpredictable climate.
